The Full Story
WHAT IS EM?
EM stands for Effective Microorganisms. They are a people-friendly and environmentally safe product of EMRO (EM Research Organization) that achieves synergistic effects by combining beneficial microorganisms which exist in nature, such as lactic acid bacteria, yeast and phototrophic bacteria. It was developed by Professor Teruo Higa in 1982. EM activates local and native microorganisms that live in soil and water and maximizes their natural power. The EM brand represents a line of microbial products that are used in numerous fields including agriculture, animal husbandry, environmental purification and health care in more than 100 countries around the world.

How Does it work?
EM beads are made from clay fermented with Effective Microorganisms, and baked at high temperatures. This captures the DNA of the Effective Microorganisms. The result is ceramic EM beads that are used in Wild Canine Company’s range of natural tick repellent products. These beads emit non-evasive, far infrared waves. These are the longest invisible wavelengths in the light spectrum. Compatible with human and animal tissue, far infrared waves are easily absorbed and penetrate the tissue up to 7.5cm deep. Here they help to improve blood circulation and create a healthy skin microbiome. Ticks identify you and your pet as a potential host with their chemoreceptors. A healthy skin microbiome confuses these receptors, helping to ward off any unwanted hitchhikers!
EM beads are a great natural alternative to the conventional approach to tick prevention, which can have many adverse effects on your pet. Our products are no risk, low cost, and low maintenance compared to traditional tick prevention. As an all natural product, results will vary. It is still important to routinely check for ticks.
How to use and care for your collar
Our collars perform best when worn everyday, and become most effective after 4-6 weeks of continuous wear. If the product becomes dirty, do not wash with soap or chemicals. This will hinder the beads efficacy. Simply rinse with water and let dry in the sun, every two weeks (or as required). The paracord is fast drying, as well as mold and mildew resistant. Be sure to keep the EM beads free of any essential oils or bug sprays. Swimming with the collar is perfectly fine, as long as it is not a chemically treated pool. Afterwards, simply place the collar in the sun to dry!
The effect of EM beads lessens over time, so it’s best to replace the bracelet or collar yearly.
